Urban Morphology of Taiping: The British Influences and Changes in Today’s Urban Structure

Urban morphology deals with the spatial structure and character of a place. It was formally established as method in 1939. is one major branches urban design that analyses complexities intricacies human settlements’ development transformation throughout years. For many years, researchers designers have been conducting morphological studies to better understand other components contribute Taiping not spared from alterations either. As post-colonial town northern part Peninsular Malaysia, blessed grid-iron plan rich architectural styles, surrounded by lush greenery picturesque landscape. However, centuries passed, experienced poor linkages, contested space, an unpleasant fabric. This paper evaluates using observational urbanism approach, focusing on core area Taiping.
